Leeroy Jenkins is the man

Bob showed me this hilarious clip, so funny i had to post it. (i'm guessing some of you have already seen it?)

-ALSO, funny that a character can make it famous and become a jeopardy question. I bet his "Leeroy Jenkins" character is worth a lot just because of the name. Who know's? maybe other people will start calling their character's leeroy jenkins2, 3, 4 or Join The Leeroy Jenkins Corps or start a cult following, "the sons and daughters of Leeroy Jenkins."

Leeroy's a popular one among MMORPG players. The first time i saw that, i had to fight back laughter at work. Playing SWG while using chat programs taught me how friggin nerdy guys can really be. Leeroy just took em to task.

If I played MMORPG games I would only be able to cruise around with people like Leeroy. It does not seem like any of those other guys are having fun. Does anyone even do that whole "role-playing" part of the ROLE-PLAYING-GAME? Is this character "famous" because of this video circulationg around CYBERSPACE? I am so confused.

yes he is only famous from this clip. hi jason.

Maybe Bob could get into it more, but apparently the guys talking strategy at the beginning of the clip are laying out exactly the WRONG thing to do tactically given the dungeon they are at. So, it's a joke about both the guys who take it all too seriously (it's a virtual obstacle course with a progress-bar for Christ-sake) and the guys who are high off their ass and ruin everyone else's "progress-fun". Now, I could understand how in other games this shit wouldn't be funny at all. Has anyone read about some of the stuff that goes on in EVE? Crazy!

Here is a link to a link to scans of a PC Gamer article laying out a very cool scam that went down in EVE. Apparently, this is not atypical in that game.

i have not been to that dungeon. its a lev 60 dungeon. im 55now. as far as what that guy did...i dont play with a Microphone if i did and i had some guy telling me how to play i would have a real hard time with that.

Players get "whiped" in dungeons all the time, cuz some n00b backs up into a mob of guys. and pulls them back into the group.

alex what is EVE? everquest?

and are any of u using (windows messenger) i use it when i am at work.

EVE is this:

Before you get your hopes up, please know that it's combat system is like watching paint dry.

I do use messenger sometimes, but I find it sort of distracting, so I keep it off most days...

Man that article reminds me of the good old days of Ultima Online back in 97. In that game u could steal from other players and kill them and take there stuff. U could also buy houses and keep your stuff in them. But u could also steal people’s keys and find there houses and STEAL all there hard-worked for stuff. Best thing I ever did in that game was pickpocket some guys key chain. Then I found his house unlocked the door and BOOM soooo much rad stuff in there. So I called my buddy at home and told him to log on and help me take all this stuff back to my (in game) house. We did, and it was rad got lots of cash and armor and furniture to put in my house. This guy also had small boxes with coins place out to spell I LOVE YOU in them. I thought that was weird but I just took all the coins anyway. I also left a note in his empty house saying that I did this and that I did not use a hack/cheat to do it. I also wrote in the note where I hung out in the game. Well it turns out he was the leader of a big guild and he was having a big IN-GAME wedding. And the boxes with the “I love you” in them were the wedding gifts. So in the end I was rich and they were fucked. They don’t make games like that anymore. WoW is way mellower. You can just jump on kill some stuff and bail. No need to worry about getting jumped and all your stuff getting taken.

Nothing risked nothing gained.

it might be better the old way. it sounds like it was more fun. and maybe if that guy was the head of a guild he could have hired guards and built a better protected stronglhold or better hidden hideout. that would make things much more difficult, BUT it also makes the treasure for the thief who dares to steal from that dude all the more glorious if he's able to pull it off!
