BERLIN

In an attempt to get me excited about my upcoming scouting trip to the former GDR (just in case the Spanish beuracrats deport me again). ASTROMEN! field agent and serious attention-deficit-disorder sufferer RY-GUY sent me these ecclectic photographs (among many others) taken at exhibitions he has been visiting there. For those of you who have not picked up an issue of ARTFORUM in the last few years, everyone in Berlin is apparantly a hip art kid these days.

(Page layout here makes my brain mushy . . . )

EDIT: Your page layout skills makes MY brain mushy! FIXED! -Alex

The boxy robot on roller-skates is cool, though I have a soft spot for robots of any variety. The plush Pokemon bugs would be cool if rather than being behind glass, you could wing them at your friends at speeds that would hurt while screaming their names. "Charmander GO!"... "Ouch! Hey man, cut that out!"
The drawing on the cardboard box is nice. Though I feel the boxes are too neutral to justify being there, maybe if there were printing on them. This is how I felt about some drawings of imaginary architecture on cardboard boxes I saw in Chelsea several months ago.

Read up on tables, that'll help you with your layout issues.

The graffiti city/party actually looked the most fun but there were no single image that gave a sense of the insanity of it and I thought posting 10 blurry photos of the corners of makeshift buildings with kids playing in them would be silly.

Yeah, it's probably like a cool version of the Burning Man fetival. Except you don't have to rub elbows with half-naked, body painted web designers.

festival, that is

... Anyway, the drawing of the girl with the fence and figures nested inside of her is growing on me. Is that wacky wall hung thing a Stella? If it's not then it's clearly biting off of him.

Is Ryan a field agent like in Syndicate Wars? Can we set off his cortex bomb at our whim?
He'll get a long way in the art world with a presuadatron, or indoctrinator, we should send him one.

WHAT!? There's a bomb in Ryan's head and NOBODY thought to mention it till NOW!!?

At leaaast i don't remember ever having a cortex bomb installed, but then again it would be eaaaasy to erase my memory of that. so i guess i really should watch out!

wassup homeys...

long time, nichts gehört!

-berlin field agent; Scheidt, Ryan .. reporting for the brotherhood (or what was the name again for the church faction in syndicate wars???)

"The Church of the New Epoch" perhaps? And yes Ryan has been issued all of the appropriate gear to carry out his MISSION. He just does not know it yet.

ahhh yes the church of the new epoch. it's all coming back to me now. what I would do to get a hold of syndicate wars now. or something like that. I spent the morning blowing myself up in a number of verious scenarios with great delight in a game demo of "WORMS 2". but, alas, I need something more substantial. any suggestions from y'all? played any good (but also funny, not looking for tedious & repetitive fps's)
or a really involved rpg would be good. I've come so close to buying worlds of warcraft (or whatever the rpg name is) but I think most of the text is in german in the versions they sell here.

i'm still waiting to get internet at home, so I frequent my corner internet cafe whenever i feel the need to cruise the information super-autobahn.

once i do get it at home i will see you in blockland.

i need my geekout fix soon...

Hey Ryan.
If you like Worms you'll love a game we've been playing online called Soldat, link. As for Syndicate Wars try here.
You'll probably need a MS-DOS emulator, from here.
