Your depressing links of the week...

The Chinook Salmon have gone missing this year, the way industrialized agriculture is changing the fundamental chemistry of the oceans may be to blame, and brief history of VX nerve gas.

Also, I was fairly shocked yesterday to see this (make sure to watch the entire video). Don't worry though, I'm sure DARPA will only use it to deliver candy and prizes to earthquake victims...

That quadruped robot is indeed astoundingly graceful. It may be like a skate video; that they aren't showing you the times when it fell down.

Another soldier for the drone army, I guess. Time to start stockpiling electro-magnetic-pulse grenades.

I've read before of how fragile the Salmon ecologies of the Northwest are. It's sad that we'll see ecological collapses of greater magnitude and frequency for the rest of our lives.
