The fly-eye screens are very cool. There was an imaginary city projected on one of those in MoMA's "Design and the Elastic Mind" show. Blender's particle system has a similar swarm simulation called boids (link)
Is this, in fact, coming to New York? I can't find it listed on the Bitforms gallery website you linked to.
