Oh, and some more entertaining summoning tables would be exciting too.

I would say do not add it. Half the D&D spells are already useless in their video-game manifestations and it is difficult to tell beforehand which are effective and which are not, so I have my doubts an extra 150 spells from source books I have never even looked at and the Halfling/Slime domain adds something to the game -- other than making me take a half hour trying to figure out how to level up a spellcaster.
That said, some of the changes to spell rules could be worthwhile but they generally apply to high level spells and campaign issues, which you have explicitly stated is not your focus. (Who cares what the damage spread on Meteor Swarm is if no one will ever get high enough to cast it.)
Changes to the summoning tables are desperately needed because everyone running around with a celestial badger is silly and a bit boring. I like the idea of those being random, or at least alignment based. Even Nordock had a simple version of that implemented with the use of a summoning widget.
Alex is right, there needs to be more placed treasure. The gold piece economy balance is quite good with just looting monsters but we sorely miss the fun of searching for bags and chests in the dungeons filled with really goofy and varied shiny baubles (some of which of course having dubious value but interesting nonetheless.) Currently searching, the lore skill, and the identify spell are of no use and I kind of feel like a goblin-club-merchant coming back to town after each foray. (Why would adventurers, particularly elves and dwarves, loot goblins for their shoddy weapons . . . because there ain't anything else in these here parts!)

i'd have to agree. once in a while it would be nice to find a wacky magic item. no is interested in +1 swords though. if there are wacky spells in the grimoire that might be kind of cool. and an eccentric wizard that casts spells from the grimoire. to dazzling and dangerous effects might be an adventure where you are sure whether he is a friend or foe. he's just a danger to those around him!
