"Look at My Striped Shirt!"

Hanging out in or around Wicker Schmicker, we tend to run across the button down striped shirt guys at bars. This article seriously had me rolling.

"I figure we’ll kick off the night with some Golden Tee! I am going to smack the shit out of that little white ball! It’s going to be so fucking loud! I’ll bet I can drive that pretend golf ball 600 fucking yards tonight! I’m that fucking pumped!

I can almost taste those Jager Bombs right now! I fucking love Red Bull! I put it on my God damned cereal! I’m crushing one right now!"

Contrast that with my recent experiences. Two weeks ago in the bar, me and my friends were trapped, for about an hour, by a drunk redneck who was emphatic about describing to us how he survives by only eating squirrel during the winter: get four or five of 'em, a meat grinder, and you can make burgers too! He also gave us a long and graphic description on how to skin a squirrel.
Oh yeah, he also likes to eat carp, which are bottom feeders, which is like eating an animal raised solely on feces.

Come to think of it, we have those 'striped shirt' guys as well.
My friend Scott has a point that all of these people look like they came from central casting.
"The script reads here that four 'dudes' enter stage left."

CHICAGO, IL - Join ThreeWalls, Friday, October 7th in hosting Help Ease Local Poverty (HELP) for a special cocktail party and unveiling of their 2006 "Through the Lens of HELP" calendar.

HELP was incorporated in August of 2000, as an Illinois not-for-profit organization comprised of various participating organizations working together to educate individuals about how to assist those in need in our community. Currently HELP provides hot well-balanced suppers at facilities at 721 North LaSalle on Wednesdays. Guests are introduced to social service organizations specializing in drug rehabilitation, job training, earn share, shelter, and most recently HIV testing. Other quality of life services include a literacy program, poetry workshops, bike fairs, complimentary tickets to life enriching entertainment, and participation in a calendar project.

Each year HELP provides their dinner guests with disposable cameras to take pictures of what is important to them. Thirteen photos, juried by professional photographers, are selected for insertion in their annual calendar. The calendar is then used as a fund raising vehicle to assist in funding next year's calendar and other HELP programs. The winning photographers are awarded $100 for their photo. All guests who submit a camera for development receive a memento of their photos in an album. This project focuses strongly on the guests by creating an activity for them which will give them pleasure, round-out their personalities, provide an incentive to socialize, nurture their expressive abilities, assist in increasing their self-respect and involve them in a positive way in the life of the community.

This year, ThreeWalls is pleased to host the unveiling of "Through the Lens of HELP" 2006 calendar in a special two-day celebration and exhibition. Join us from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7th for a cocktail celebration and exhibition of the original calendar photos. The photography will remain on view for Saturday, October 8th. Please support this vital charitable organization by attending the cocktail party on October 7th where, for a suggested donation of $20.00, visitors can take home a copy of the 2006 calendar. Calendars will remain on sale at ThreeWalls throughout the month.

i'm not posting this to endorse it, i just think its just a bit perverse to throw a cocktail party for affluent aic kids and pass out cameras to people that maybe could use food or a job instead.
how about organizing a food drive
instead of gulping down redbull & vodkas?

actaully, it's fine.
i really like reading what you guys post here and only sometimes have something that would be interesting enought to post, so maybe i 'll just put the link up for people who are interested. it wasn't my intention to barge in to your guyz's site asking to post. i just didn't know it was a limited access thing and not something i just wasn't "rolling over with the mouse".

but, it's cool. keep on writing guys! i like to hear how you guys are doing!
